All levity aside, John is knowledgeable, his staff friendly and accommodating, his shop is secure and his location is in the heart of Connecticut's Jewelry District in picturesque downtown Middletown.

While we were there, a young woman came in with some sterling items she wanted to have a quick appraisal for personal purposes. John examined her items and while they were not Rodeo Drive quality, he respectfully and knowledgeably informed her that her items were of value, even if they didn't yield a boat load of cash. She didn't sell but she did walk away with an understanding that while her treasures would not be found in Donald Trump's home, they were of value and she was an important customer.

I wish there were a few more stars because Five isn't enough. We had some tough choices to make about some closely held family related items that we were looking to appraise for resale. John and staff looked at our collection and right away knew what he was looking at and the experience just got better from there. He carefully went through our items and informed us what was of value and what was "recyclable". The thing that got me was not how he treated us, although it was wonderful, but how he treated the other customers.
